Always interesting?

Like most of us, I’d like to add something to the web community through my site and various social media tools. But what I really want is to be myself. Do you think I always add something to the world? Is everything that comes out of my mouth clever? Of course not. Most of the time, we could all have lived without those words. Sometimes,  I’m even being stupid on purpose.

But is it what you’re saying or the fact that you’re communicating at all that means the most? I guess it depends on the situation. Leaving a comment on someone elses’ site that just says “Hello, I just discovered your site, I like it. ” or “it seems interesting” doesn’t add any information. The author may think “I’ve read that comment a thousand times, and I know how great my site is, I just have to look at the stats!”, but it’s important for me to interact with people, to encourage them, even if it’s a tiny encouragement.

What do you think? What’s better? Shut up and only add interesting stuff to the giant spider web or interact even if it’s small talk? Or a happy combination of both?
