I love reading long books during the holidays. This year, as I needed to read something nice and easy, I chose Candace Bushnell’s Trading Up.

In this book, we follow Janey Wilcox, a lingerie model who gets eaten alive by New York’s most glamorous sharks. I can’t help being a little shocked by how shallow and mean most characters are, but I’m having fun nonetheless. Besides, there’s nothing more pleasant than a 548 pages (or more) book…

I was at the bookstore the other day, and I saw The Road, by Cormac McCarthy, on the shelf in front of me. Just like that, it caught my eye. So I brought it home and started reading it. I’m not sure a story about the apocalypse is what I need now, but I’ll finish it anyway.

Now it’s time for Tim Roth and his wife to make me read Cormac McCarthy. They named their kids after their two favorite authors. I can’t remember the name of the second one, but I’ll make sure to read him as well soon.

A friend of mine lent me “Keith me”, by Amanda Sthers. You know when you have the feeling that you read a book at the exact right time? My friend may have known way better than I did this time.

What I understood reading “Keith me” is that a story doesn’t have to be linear or to have realistic details. It can be messy and still amazing. Of course, it depends on what your story is. But as far as mine is concerned, I doesn’t need to make that much sense. I always aimed for a complicated plot and thought I wasn’t experienced or smart enough to write. But I was so wrong!

Guess what I’ve been doing since I finished the book? :)

Thank you so much, C.
