Both our voices were soft. A glimpse of a connexion between us. Getting to know someone is a beautiful and complex process, regardless of the outcome.

The session was really useful as I’m starting a project. Some of you might already know about it, but I kept it mostly hidden until now, because I’m starting from scratch and it only got clearer in the past weeks.

Henriette told me about storyliving which, from what I understood, means sharing with people, even though whatever you’re doing is still a work in progress. As sharing is the core of my project, I don’t see why I shouldn’t share right from the beginning…

Of course, someone might steal my idea. Well, if you do steal it, then the things I want to do will still be done, right? Just not by me. As we’re all unique, I’m pretty sure it won’t be exactly what I would have done, so I guess there will still be plenty of space out there for me to do my thing.

Am I making a mistake here? Maybe, but as passionate as I may be, if things don’t work out, I’ll do things differently, or I’ll do something else.

Now what is this project?

Basically, I’d like to interview people who inspire me, people who have an interesting lifestyle and/or career path.

Why would I do that? Because, not too long ago, I realized that I was soon going to finish my studies and thought that the only future for me was to get a job and fit into whatever I’d have to fit into in order to pay the bills. In my mind, creating things or choosing to do something I love wasn’t a real option, especially since there is a financial crisis. I also didn’t have a good idea of what I could do, which companies are interesting or which positions there are to occupy. I noticed that in certain fields, like linguistics or litterature, the educational system (in my case, universities) is somewhat disconnected from the business market. In other words, from the students’ future.

I was very anxious.

And I don’t want anyone to feel that way.

I would like to show students everywhere (and anyone else) that there are multiple ways of having a career, and opportunities few people know about. I know the world isn’t perfect. I know we don’t always have a choice. But it’s important to let others inspire us.

So let the inspiration begin!

Not that I know Tim Ferriss enough to agree or disagree with the criticism, but Penelope Trunk has interesting points. I did feel uneasy when I read Tim’s book, but for another reason I might write about someday, when I find the right way to put it into a post.
